CCI product summary template: what the FCA fixes and what you design
There is no FCA template for the CCI product summary that replaces UCITS KIIDs and PRIIPs KIDs for UK retail investors from 8 June 2027. The DISC rules set what goes in and how the figures are calculated; the layout is yours. This guide sets out the fixed parts and the free parts, with illustrative examples for an open-ended fund, an investment trust and a VCT.

Illustrative examples. The examples on this page use fictitious products and figures. They show one way of meeting the rules and have not been reviewed by a compliance adviser or approved by the FCA. They are not a template for your own products and are not advice.
1. Is there an FCA template?
No. Unlike the KIID and the PRIIPs KID, the CCI product summary has no prescribed form. The FCA's final rules (PS25/20, in the DISC sourcebook) set the content, the calculations and a small number of presentation points. Everything else, from page design to the order of supporting detail, is for the manufacturer to decide, as long as the summary is short, clear and likely to be understood by the investors it is for.
That freedom is useful, but it also means each firm has to design its own summary, test that investors understand it and keep it consistent across every share class.
2. What the rules fix
| Part | What is fixed | Rule |
|---|---|---|
| Title and format | Titled "product summary", in plain English, clearly separate from marketing material; one summary per share class | DISC 3 |
| Product information | What the product is, its objective and strategy, what drives returns, the recommended holding period, how to sell, how to complain, and the Ombudsman and compensation position | DISC 4 |
| Risk score | A 1 to 10 score from annualised volatility over 10 years, with set minimum scores and adjustments, shown on a horizontal scale with explanatory text | DISC 5 |
| Costs | Ongoing, transaction, entry and exit costs and any performance fee, as percentages and in pounds on an assumed £10,000 | DISC 6 |
| Past performance | A line graph of £10,000 over up to 10 years using monthly values, with a benchmark where there is one, and the past performance warning | DISC 7 |
| Keeping it current | Review at least every 12 months and after material changes; a machine-readable core information file for distributors | DISC 3 |
The full section-by-section list is in our CCI product summary checklist, and the risk calculation is explained in how the CCI risk score is calculated.
3. What you design yourself
- Layout and branding: page design, colours, fonts and logo.
- How much help to give: for example a "who it is designed for" panel, a short glossary or worked examples of costs.
- Length and versions: a short essential version, or a fuller version with more explanation, as long as it stays concise.
- Wording: plain-English descriptions of the product and its risks, written for your investors.
- Testing: how you check that investors understand it, as part of your Consumer Duty evidence.
4. Illustrative examples: fund, investment trust and VCT
Each example is a complete two-page product summary built from fictitious data. They are marked as specimens and are for illustration only.
